[Kotone hums softly, not unsympathetically, as she watches Elizabeth's focus drift away from the casino around them. It doesn't stop her from snagging another chocolate in the meantime, but nor does she push for more information until the attendant is back in the present. If there's chocolate on her fingers, don't worry about it!

But even she won't make light of something like that. She knows how much Theo had cared about her; if Elizabeth cares about her guest half as much as Theo, then that's certainly a force to be reckoned with. It's also a little scary, knowing that even for as powerful as the attendants are, this resort can still pull them in and keep them here...

Her own gaze isn't quite as wistful as Elizabeth's, but more resigned, the faintest of humorless smiles curving her lips.]

Do things like that always happen to guests of the Velvet Room?

[ elizabeth shakes her head, absently plucking another chocolate for herself. were she on her own, the box would probably already be gone, but being in the presence of another guest has calmed her (is what she wants to tell herself, anyway; it's more the reminiscing about him that's doing it). she gives kotone a soft, assuring smile as she chews. ]

Not in my experience, no. Their journies are usually well contained, and when they no longer require us and our services--their journeys are complete--then they simply continue their lives. But some guests are... destined for more, whether they asked to be or not.

[ oh, if only she knew who she was talking to right now. then again that will simply raise more questions than it answers, she thinks.

[Well, the plan had been to go to Red Cardinal for Akira to take her on a late-night dinner date. Well, "date," or just "get-together," same thing to her, really! She hasn't bought a lot of clothes here at the resort yet, but she'd found herself a plaid skirt that almost reminds her of her casual winter outfit, and that made her smile! Though she's foregone the turtleneck for a cream-colored blouse and not bothered with stockings. The chill she'd felt persistently for the past few days is almost completely gone, after all!

And yet, even as she spots Akira and makes her way over with a wave, she's suddenly grabbed by the wrist and yanked straight into House Finch by an overzealous employee before she can even say hi. Help! Rescue her, valiant savior!!]

["date" had been the subtext of his not-so-subtle invitation! though "get-together" would have suited him well enough, too. in the end, it doesn't matter; he's just eager to spent a little more time with Kotone herself. and not just because she is a fellow Wild Card]

[they spot each other at about the same time, one of Akira's hands lifting in a greeting of his own. but before he can say anything. . . drama!! one of the House Finch employees snags his "date" (read: "get-together buddy?") by the wrist and drags her inside]

Whoa-- hey! Hang on a second, we weren't--

[and yet, as he rushes in to rescue her before she can be fully kidnapped. . . another employee appears at his back, hands planted against his shoulders as he guides Akira inside with promises of discounted drinks and a night they'll both remember. now they are both caught]

[he glances at Kotone with a mildly helpless, sheepish look]

[She doesn't say it aloud, but hopefully her small, tender smile says it for her: she wants to carry that burden, if it's for him. She has a bad habit of passing off minor responsibilities to others, but when it matters, when it's important -- that's always been her task to shoulder things like this. Now, maybe, more than ever.]

I definitely want that. [And again, while normally there'd be a bright, bubbly cheer in her voice, for Ryoji, she's as sincere as she's ever been, reaching out to take both of his hands in hers. Her hands are cold, frigidly so; she has no way of knowing that here in the resort, she'd actually woken up downstairs from being a statue, instead of coming straight from the Seal. Ryoji isn't the only one without all of his memories (she thinks).

But she wants to hold him close, as if she could somehow impart what she knows to him through touch alone.] You can ask me anything, or we can do anything you want together.

[She swings his hands, a little gesture of silliness in an attempt to bring a smile to his face.] Whatever you want.

[ Touch alone does say a lot; after all, his shared soul had not been the most effusive — something which Death's presence very well may have influenced — and so Ryoji has come to keenly appreciate the way such gestures, no matter how big or small, can say so much. Perhaps that's why he's so tactile himself, for every time he wanted to reach out, but was unable to.

[ She offers him vast possibilities with such a gesture, and yet it doesn't leave him feeling lost for where they should begin. It feels natural, easy, to pick up where they left off — even if he doesn't know where he dropped that thread. In time, all will be revealed, won't it? ]

[Unlike him, she sounds genuinely happy -- mostly to hear his voice, to be honest. There's a brief sound like she's shifting to get more comfortable (because she is, scooting herself to sit up on her bed), then another moment as she tries to figure out how to use her Watch like a phone. Up to her ear? No, that's not right. She settles for drawing her knees into her chest and resting her arm atop them.]

I was hoping you'd call. How are you doing?

[Facing what they had together had been... awful. She can't blame him for sounding exhausted.]

[Checking in should be a no-brainer, but between this empathy situation weighing on him, and memories from the last couple of weeks still lingering in his mind, Yu still hesitates for a moment. In the end, it's the quiet but persistent urgency that spurs him on, rather than waiting for things to calm down or blow over.]

[Does that sound too desperate? Maybe it sounds too desperate. But while she hasn't been alone for all that long, it feels like an eternity.]

[Okay, he might have to admit that sushi is actually pretty good. Or maybe it's just because of the company he's with? Which. Yeah, he's known for a while now that he really likes Kotone (maybe something hinging on a little more) and sitting across from her at the restaurant, sharing a few pieces, and just chatting and hanging out? It all felt so normal. Yet special in a way? Did they just go on a date? He mostly just wanted to get her a belated birthday dinner and present, but now they're back at his new suite.

Kind of feels like a date to him.

He asked about her Personas and since she has her Evoker now, she can show him. It's something that makes him excited, always interested in seeing the power of his friends. It helps that Personas feel so personal to his friends? A reflection of their selves.

But Scott turns to Kotone once they're in his room, a small smile to him as he watches her type on her Watch. She's messaging 'the guy that's staying with her' and oh??

He arches an eyebrow.]

Picked up a stray, Kotone? [He teases slightly. If Kotone looks around, she'll probably notice that his room is still pretty barren. Still a TV and video game system that Akira got him long time ago, but he really hasn't put much else in here yet.]

[It's kind of exciting to go with a friend for fancy sushi! For their party to celebrate the end of the Dark Hour (a premature as it was), Mitsuru had paid to have platters of sushi delivered to the dorm. It's really cool to go out somewhere to watch them make it by hand right in front of them! Scott's managed to single-handedly give her one of the coolest presents she's ever gotten for any occasion ever.]

[She looks up from her Watch, a little confused by Scott's question. A stray...? Oh! It takes her a moment, then she laughs, shaking her head.] No! One of my senpai arrived recently and hasn't gotten a room yet.

[There's an unmistakable fondness in her eyes when she mentions "her senpai," tinged with the same kind of sadness that Scott might remember from their time trapped together investigating the Heart. But she musters up a bright smile nonetheless, bouncing further into his room to look around. Her Evoker, mostly hidden beneath her skirt, is visible in flashes with every skipping step she takes into the small space. It might be small, but--]
