[You wake up in a courtroom. You’re not really sure how you got here, just that you’re here. There’s Jerry, sitting at the judges box. For some he might be new, and others he might be familiar or semi-familiar. He scrutinizes you, and then motions to the jury box. There’s a plaque that’s sitting on the outside that says “Council”, but there’s no one sitting there. Everything looks clean and maintained, but there’s no one in the courtroom but you and Jerry.
Weird.]
You are charged with harm to Scott Summers. In order to repent and further your rehabilitation, you have been tasked to show remorse for your crime by reflecting to others on whether there is such a thing as going “too far” to protect those they love. What extent would they go to protect others? Would they physically harm them if it meant saving them from harm? If there is no action taken, there will be consequences.
[Jerry blinks down at you, fingers threading together as he looks down from the judges’ box.]
How do you plead?
[ooc: you have until May 9th to submit your Sentencing HERE Even if your character doesn’t proceed with the Sentencing, you must comment on the NPC inbox for your penalty.
Also, there are effects for ignoring this Sentencing. The longer Kotone takes to do Sentencing, the more she’ll see Scott in that moment where he was beaten. She’ll even relive it in waking moments, as if it was a dream that she can’t wake up from. If you have any questions about Sentencing, please let us know!
Jerry is interactive at this point, but we wanted to make sure you got your information in hand if you'd like to start plotting for your Sentencing!]
[Somehow, she's not surprised to be here. She doesn't remember walking here, but she must have, right? Dimly, she has to wonder if Scott knows where she's gone, and if he's worried about her. Even as Jerry's speaking, she's looking around, trying to see if anything's changed since the last time she's been here. It's been a long time, hasn't it...? Last time, she'd had to walk here herself.
There's a flicker of pain that crosses her face when she's told what her crime is, but she can't argue. Beyond even just this singular incident, she's hurt Scott a lot, huh...? It only makes sense to be punished for it. Clasping her hands behind her back, she takes a deep breath before answering,] Guilty.
[Then she raises her hand. Does she have permission to ask a question?? If so,] How many other people are you gonna call in? What'd they do?
[Like, she's already proclaimed herself guilty and received her sentence, so why not ask more questions while she has the chance...? It's not like he's going to do anything else to her, probably.]
But I mean... how do you decide who to sentence? Do you know?
[Oh... oh, Jerry thought she was good and wasn't going to fight? Well, not about herself, anyway. She's got her hands on her hips as she frowns at him.]
[Well, okay, she kind of figured he'd give that kind of answer, but still, she had to try. She lets out another indignant little sound, because he can say whatever he wants, but she'd definitely going to help Scott face his sentencing.]
Do you really think sentencing people for stuff they haven't done is helping them, though...?

there's a bit of a pause as she goes into a path that isn't as well traveled in these times.]
You're the first one to ask this question. Why do you want to know?

[Is it Jerry who decides, or someone else?]

From their actions in this world, for one. As for the other... they are picked at random to facilitate their rehabilitation.
no subject
So who did you pick this time? Maybe we can work together on our sentencing!
[She doesn't actually intend to do that, but you never know!]

Zekarion Altius, Ellie Williams, Dante, Scott Summers, Fauna, and Ragna are all selected for this round of sentencing.
[they'll probably find out one way or another at some point, anyway.]

[...unsurprisingly, she's more upset about his being sentenced than hers.]

Can you sentence me twice instead of him?
no subject
No.
[simple.]
He has to face it on his own.

[of course he's gonna have a reason for it, Kotone!]
