[Gwen's now had two big fights as Spider-Woman since she's found herself in Aldrip. Once fighting monsters in the first week she arrived, and now there was the Tower incident. Honestly, if she had probably just fought the Lizard instead of avoiding it and eventually leaving the challenge over it, she probably would've taken less hits, but that's beside the point. Big claws didn't do well against the fabric of her suit.
As many times as she walked up and down the hallways to the STEM club room, she remembered seeing a sign for a Sewing club. And since she couldn't exactly afford the equipment to repair it herself, she decided to stop in one day to see if she could get the damage fixed quickly.
So here she is, slipping into the other club room early so as to not interrupt or make a scene. Even if her and Peter weren't exactly keeping their spider-powers a secret anymore, she didn't want to deal with too many questions. But she's probably not that lucky, is she?]
[Kotone had never needed to know how to sew; she'd joined Sewing Club back at Gekkoukan as an excuse to get to know the French exchange student, Bebe. Even now, she can't really be sure if she likes sewing for its own sake, or because she can make little gifts to give to her friends -- plus, it reminds her of Bebe whenever she thinks about making something more traditionally Japanese.
So while Sewing Club might be a fairly small club, usually just herself and Sandry, Kotone makes sure to keep it stocked with handful of dress forms, plenty of fabric, and even two sewing machines she'd gotten her hands on back when technology was still hard to come by in Aldrip. Considering most of her materials had been things acquired before the town's reset, stepping into the club room evokes an atmosphere of and old-fashioned tailor picked up and dropped into a relatively modern era.
And then there's Kotone herself. Sorry, Gwen! At the sound of the door opening, a head pops up from a pile of fabric in the back corner. Surprise!]
[Yep. Definitely not that lucky. Gwen barely is through the door, trying to take in the piles of all kinds of fabrics, when -- of course -- a head pops up and greets her.]
Oh-- Um. Hi. I...didn't expect anyone to be here this early. [She just wanted to be in and out, no questions asked, but alas.
Though. She's pretty sure she's seen this girl before? Maybe the TWAT party? That was about the most social thing she's done since she got here. Unless-- Oh. Oh wait. She was the girl that messaged her on the OKCINDR thing. She remembered now, looking at her profile when they were texting.]
I wanted to take inventory! [the head informs her from where it's still completely surrounded by fabric. Shortly, it's joined by hands on her chin and elbows resting on the pile of cloth as she peers curiously at the new arrival.]
You're Gwen, right? The one who likes Carl Jung! I'm Kotone.
[Without extricating herself from the fabric, she just offers a wave and a smile.] What're you looking for? Can I help?
Um. Yeah. That's me. Gwen. [dammit. come on gwen, you don't have to be weird.]
Kotone. That's right. Nice to finally meet you in person.
[Aaaand, there she goes, getting awkward again. But she finally pulls her bag off her shoulder, and grabs the white, pink, and blue suit stored inside.]
My, uh-- suit. Got damaged. I don't have any of the stuff I'd usually use to fix it, so I was trying to see if you had anything here I could try.
[Finally, Kotone extricates herself from the pile of fabric, notebook in hand. She makes a note of where she'd left off, then comes closer with skipping steps, taking in not only the suit, but the way Gwen is acting. Kind of shy, huh? She'll tone down her exuberance just a little to match, offering a friendly smile.]
Lots of spandex and a serger? [Thankfully she doesn't tear the suit badly very often, but the claws of a certain monster won out. She pulls her suit out the rest of the way, fully displaying it in its full white and black glory, but she focuses on the tears in the white shoulder.]
I can handstitch the small details, but the big seams do better with a serger. So they don't pull and tear so easily.
[Since she does a lot of movement in this thing. The seams need to be strong. Thankfully, she danced before becoming Spider-Woman, so she's long been used to moving in tight spandex.]
[Luckily there is a serger, though it's out of the way to discourage people who don't know how to use it from messing it up. That thing had been tough to get hold of here in Aldrip! And so is spandex; considering what the town had been like until the town hall explosion, most of Kotone's fabric leans toward what one might generally call "vintage."]
I have some! I dunno about lots. You'll probably have to dye or bleach it to get the color you want.
[Taking a skipping step backward, Kotone gestures to the room at large with a bright smile, apparently completely unbothered by the sight of the suit itself. Like, she met Peter right after he arrived, so her bar for "weird outfits" is on the floor. Plus, she generally just kind of lets things go, even if they're strange.]
I'm still working on reorganizing, but look around and take what you need!
[But cheerfully nosy as always, she adds,] You designed it yourself?
Wow... that seems like it would be tough. I only make basic stuff! Knit rabbits and felt bags and stuff like that.
["I only make basic stuff," she says, and yet she's outfitted an entire club to make sure people can sew. Still, she's smiling the whole time; it doesn't seem like she's being self-deprecating, but rather just stating a fact.]
Do you make other kinds of clothes, too? Or just your suit? I tried making gloves once, but it was really hard.
It...was definitely a learning curve, that's for sure.
[Seriously, she went through several stages before it became what it is now. It took time, learning to make something so advanced. A hoodie and skimask just couldn't work forever.]
Um. Not really? But honestly, after making this? It can't be that hard. Also, I could, uh-- teach you some tricks. For gloves, I mean. If you wanted.
[Since gloves were integral to the suit, she definitely learned fast how to do those correctly. They were still annoying as hell to make, but she had it down. Mostly.]

[It would mean redoing a few parts, but most of it was made where it was easy to replace parts when torn or otherwise damaged.]
