[She opens her mouth to protest about how unfair that is -- but life has never been fair, has it? And then she wants to ask how Dazai deals with all of that -- but she thinks she knows the answer to that already, too. Is that why he drinks so much?]
And you couldn't tell them the truth because you were in hiding, [she guesses instead.]
It'd be a shit show if I did. There's a lot more about my involvement in the Mafia, with Mori, with the way things were, and honestly, with my own existence. It's a lot! You should rest your mind with what you know, hm? I don't think keeping on telling you upsetting things is going to be any help right now. That said, if you feel comfortable, you can sleep in our room with Chuuya. He'd like that, I'm sure. I'll go see my... Person I'm Fucking. You two can have a nice evening and relax, if anything.
(FRIENDS? NOT REALLY. ACQUAINTANCES? NOT REALLY. if she wants honesty from him, that's part of the price to pay, but alas.
chuuya needs her, too, as much as she probably would like the safety of the person she now knows to count on.)
[He'd said this was her one chance to ask, and it sounds like he's ending that interview pretty abruptly. She's never had a policy of forcing anyone to talk if they don't want to, and she isn't about to start now. Just...]
Thank you for telling me. I just... I'm sorry I couldn't do anything for you. Either stopping you or helping you.
... I wanted to go visit that person, but they're far away and I don't have the energy to move!! Would you keep me company talking here for a little while longer?
[She huffs quietly and nods, even though he can't see it.]
I'm just listening to music. Wanna listen?
[Rearranging herself in the windowsill, she slips one of her headphones over her ears again and presses the speaker of the other against the charm, turning her MP3 player back on. It's a slower J-pop song than the one they'd danced to before, but still more upbeat than not.]
[About being tired, that is. She always has been, but it was easier to ignore before that final battle. Was Dazai like that, too...? She hadn't realized.
She tilts her head and hums uncertainly.] I don't think so? Should I have?
[She does have marks, of course, but for now, they're on her back only, so nothing to be seen.]
Mmm... I've thought about that. Like, just staying in bed all day. But there's too many people I want to talk to and things I want to do, so I have to get up.
[So like, she can't have depression, because she's not sad? Anyway, that's just a fancy word for bummed out, probably.]
Sure. Is this related to the thing that Vi messaged everyone about?
Yes, it is. Chuuya also got them. I'm trying to predict the next steps, but I need data. Once I do, I will most likely be able to tell you what is going on.
[She doesn't think that's good for her. She'd miss out on a lot if she gave into that urge, after all, and who knows how often she'll get to do things like this? When it all gets too much, sometimes she'll sneak off for a power nap, but her friends are what keep her going. She can't just stay inside.
It's with another hum that she checks over her arms to make sure, but doesn't see anything.]
Do you have any guesses from the information you have?
... It's awfully personal, I will say that. Not an ability, at least not in the way that I know about it. I don't have any, which could indicate that 'No Longer Human' can stop it, or that I simply wasn't drafted. For now, it seems like a taunt, but due to our limited knowledge about this place, I can't tell whether it has an original source that I can deactivate, if the effects stop at the marks, but everyone I am in contact with is currently under observation.
You said it's a taunt... could it be from those guys who dropped us here?
[It feels like such a long time ago, now, even though it's only been two months. Her brows knit together, but she hasn't seen any marks on herself, yet. She'll have to check and make sure there's nothing on Shinji, either.]
How do you know it's not somebody's ability? Oh, [she interrupts herself.] I guess you touched Chuuya, and his marks didn't go away, huh?
Ah-ah-nope! I said it seems to be. I'm not married to that idea yet! Give me a week, I'll probably give you an assignment, I just need more time to see clearly. My predictions are never wrong - so, give me a moment or two.
(but, oh, well. he might just put everyone he trusts or... trusts-adjacent to work, and he probably will. he's strategy, after all, not muscle.)
They did not, and if his marks were real, we'd all be in trouble-- ah, not me, however. 'No Longer Human' never got me a date, but I can survive these things.
[She doesn't exactly perk up, she's too tired and upset to really be excited about the prospect of work, especially for Dazai, but... it would feel good to be able to do something. To not be the one in charge.
Also, not touching the bit about his ability getting or not getting him dates. She met most of her friends back home from awakening a Persona, so- close enough.]
(she wanted to do something, did she not? nothing dazai loves more than to show teens they're capable of greatness, even if it isn't the way they expected it.)
[She's trusting him with this. If he's going to ask her to do something, it can't be to hurt someone else, or intentionally lead to someone else getting hurt. She can't have that on her conscience.]
Chuuya's not in any danger from the marks right now, right...?

(depression, it's depression, but he hardly thinks she's as unwilling as he is to do things in his state. the music is a nice touch.)
Ah, Koto-chan, for science? Did you notice anything different on yourself lately?

It's hard to imagine Chuuya being anxious. He seems so put-together all the time.
