Character Name: Kotone Shiomi
Character Canon: Persona 3 Portable
Canon Point: March 5th, 2010
Age: 17

Crime: Duplicity
I'd like to play with the idea that as a Persona wildcard, Kotone is often changing "faces" when she speaks with different people (choosing different Personas to help her say the right thing to befriend someone more easily, saying what she thinks they'll want to hear instead of always what she thinks is true, etc.) She can hide her feelings behind a cheerful mask, which I think could be fun to play with!

Background: wiki link!; additional wiki link to the male protagonist's profile which actually details the events in game. Kotone undergoes the same events; they're just not repeated on her wiki page. Instead, her wiki page stresses the differences between her and the male protagonist.

Personality:
outgoing, assertive, protective, energetic, bubbly, mischievous

Kotone is a second-year high school student known for her outgoing and friendly personality. She often butts into others' problems, lives, or interests with a mind to help however she can, and has no trouble chatting with friends, classmates, and strangers alike. While she can often be mischievous and enjoys teasing her friends good-naturedly, she's also fiercely protective of them. She's always ready to leap into action and sometimes violence for the sake of her friends, both in combat and in the real world (whether they asked for it or not). She can often be loud, outspoken, and sometimes reckless to this end. Assertive and impulsive, she could be accused of acting first and asking questions later.

Her bubbly exterior hides her own suffering and sadness; when faced with difficult events or tragedies, she'd prefer to keep her feelings to herself to be a more stable rock for her friends to rely on. She takes her role as their appointed leader seriously, keeping up a brave front even in the face of horrible circumstances. This can lead her friends to worry that she's taking on too much by herself, but she's fine! Really! No need to worry about her!

Kotone is able to form strong bonds (social links) with all of her team members, inserting herself directly into everyone's lives out of friendly interest or concern. It's the strength of her friends that influence her own decisions, as well; near the end of the game, when they're debating whether they should save themselves the agony of the knowledge of their own death by killing Ryoji and losing their memories, or try to fight back and keep their memories and the knowledge of their own inevitable deaths, it's everyone's resolve to keep living that influences her decision in the end to spare Ryoji's life and fight back against the Fall.

All the members of SEES, including Kotone, had to come to terms with their own mortality. For most of them, the act of summoning a Persona itself mirrors the act of committing suicide, with Kotone pointing her Evoker, a pistol-shaped summoning tool, at the side of her head and firing. Kotone herself has a rather close relationship with death itself, considering that a piece of the avatar of death, Nyx, was sealed inside her. Some of her important social links deal quite heavily with death as well, whether it's a young man suffering from a terminal disease or forming a relationship with said literal avatar of death. This hasn't quite given her a cavalier attitude toward death and her own mortality; rather, it's reinforced her desire to live life to the fullest without regrets.

At her current canon point (March 5th, 2010), she's deeply exhausted from the battle against Nyx. Though she was supposed to die while sealing Nyx away (to prevent the end of the world from despair and apathy), she managed to cling to consciousness for just over a month; long enough to fulfill a promise made to the other members of SEES to reunite on the school roof for graduation day. Determined to see that promise through to the end, she staves off death long enough to reach that point, even as others around her remark on how tired and sick she's starting to look, until she finally hears the voices of her friends coming to join her on the rooftop. She closes her heavy eyelids for a final time, then passes away.

Abilities:
  • She can use a naginata and other polearm-like weapons (lacrosse sticks, hockey sticks, etc.)
  • Persona: through use of a summoning tool called an Evoker, Kotone can summon a manifestation of the human collective unconscious or psyche. This often takes the form of godlike figures from mythology. As she's from the end of the game, she has an assortment of rather powerful Personas at her disposal.
  • Messiah: almighty and physical attacks; weak to dark/curse
  • Helel: healing skills and almighty skills; weak to ice
  • Cybele: revival skills, physical skills (pierce)
  • Melchizedek: physical skills (strike) and healing; weak to dark/curse
  • Surt: strong fire attacks; weak to ice
  • Alilat: strong ice skills; weak to fire
  • Norn: strong wind skills; weak to electricity
  • Odin: strong electric skills; weak to wind
  • Sandalphon: strong light/bless skills
  • Metatron: strong light/bless skills; weak to dark/curse
  • Inventory:
  • Gekkoukan winter school uniform (girl's)
  • MP3 player and red headphones
  • cell phone (circa 2009)
  • silver barrettes that form the number 22 in roman numerals
  • extra hair-tie
  • leather watch: a gift from Shinjiro
  • faint glowing ring: a gift from Ryoji
  • Japanese strap: a simple strap made in Sewing Club
  • Evoker: a pistol-shaped tool used for summoning a Persona

Questions: If the "crime" suggested doesn't work, I'd be happy to have the mod team choose something for her!
